Our first office is on Route 9 in Wellesley. We plan to open an office in downtown Boston in 2019 and to expand nationally over time.
There are no membership fees or extra costs. The standard copays for your insurance company may apply, but there are no additional fees for becoming a Firefly patient member. For some insurance providers, your copays are even waived.
No. When you join Firefly, you'll work with one of our PCPs, who coordinates your dedicated care team, including a Nurse Practitioner (NP) and Health Guide. We're happy to work with your current PCP to transfer your records and ensure seamless continuity of care.
With Firefly, you get a personalized care team that includes your own Primary Care Provider (PCP), Nurse Practitioner (NP), and Health Guide, as well as any other support you need from leading specialists in medical care and behavioral health. For routine care, like a sinus infection, urinary tract infection, or prescription refill, you may get care from providers not on your personal team so we can help you as quickly and conveniently as possible.
A physician-led care team is a team of doctors, nurse practitioners, health guides, and others assembled around you to meet your unique needs. If you need help from a specialist or a nutritionist, we'll be able to pull them in at the right time, often without you having to go for a separate visit.
Firefly Health is a virtual-first alternative to traditional primary care. We provide urgent care for common conditions like back pain, stomach flu or sinus infections, including women’s health issues. We help you stay healthy by making sure you get everything you need to prevent cancer, heart attacks and other serious diseases. We help you be your best self by supporting your goals like losing weight, quitting smoking, or sleeping better. We have advanced approaches to supporting you to manage chronic conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure. And, finally, if you have more complicated health issues, we partner with the best specialists to get you the best treatment science has to offer.
If you give Firefly a try and it's not right for you, you're free to work with another PCP at any time. We ask that you let us know, so we can help transfer your records to your new PCP. There are no cancellation fees or hard feelings.
Most people receive the majority of their care from us virtually using our mobile app, rather than in person. To provide you with best possible care though, we do recommend you see us once in person within the first six months of signing up. After that, it's your choice to message us, schedule video visits, or see us in person if a specific need arises, such as a physical exam.
Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician's Assistants (PAs) are trained at the master’s level to diagnose and prescribe medications to patients. They function similar to Physicians (MDs) in the primary care setting. This includes performing routine physical exams, diagnosing and treating acute conditions, managing chronic diseases, and counseling on preventative health care. Here at Firefly, NPs and PAs will always be working in a team-based model with a Physician and a Firefly Health Guide to focus on your individual health goals.
